A Showcase of Our Latest Bathroom Remodel

As you can imagine, every remodel project we tackle comes with its own unique challenges. Our most recent project is no different. We teamed up with one of the local college fraternities to create a bathroom that is elegant, durable, and functional. Join us as we overview the project, tackle unique challenges, and reveal the beautiful new space.

Before

The main issues of the existing bathroom were the 30+ year old tiles on the walls and floor, the lack of sink space, and no existing shelving and towel hooks. Our designers and contractors joined up with the fraternity members to create a stunning bathroom design that tackled all of the existing issues.

To prevent water damage in the shower room and overall bathroom, we knew we needed to waterproof the walls. But one of the main complaints about the original bathroom was how difficult it was to keep the tile clean and the grout white. We proposed skipping the tile entirely and instead covering the walls with quartz. Not only did this waterproof the walls, quartz is extremely durable and mildew resistant - not to mention stunning.

To solve the lack of sink space, we changed the design of the original bathroom to have 4 countertop sinks instead of 3. We also added a countertop cutout for a trash can to cut down on clutter and create better flow in and out of the room.

Finally to create more storage and functionality - we added shelves and towel hooks in the entry hallway. This gives the men somewhere to store their bathroom caddy while showering or a place to hang their towel while they brush their teeth.

Our Challenges

The first major challenge of this remodel project was removing thousands of 30+ year old one inch tiles. Each tile had to be removed piece by piece which took a lot of elbow grease!

The second major challenge was a looming deadline. Once summer classes came to a close and the fraternity was vacante for summer, we had only a few weeks to demo the entire existing bathroom, finish the electrical and plumbing, install the vanity and quartz walls, build and install shelves and towel hooks, paint, and reinstall bathroom and shower partitions. Thankfully with careful planning and a lot of long hours from our fantastic contractors we finished the project with an entire week to spare. Just in time for the students to return and begin the fall semester.
