The Do's and Don'ts of Quartz Countertops

You have new quartz countertops in your kitchen, and they are absolutely stunning! I’m sure one of the questions in your mind is, how do I take care of them? Well do not fear! We are here to help! Come along as we talk about the Dos and Don’ts of Quartz Countertops.

Do

Do clean up spills immediately. While quartz is durable and stain resistant, it is not stain proof. Leaving things like food coloring, wine, or grape juice on the counter for too long may result in a faint stain.

Do use mild dish soap and a rag to clean up spills and messes. This is typically all that’s needed to keep your countertops clean and sparkling. For tougher messes, we recommend Silestone’s maintenance spray to take care of that built up grime!

Do use a cutting board. Quartz is a superhero with an extremely durable and scratch resistant surface, but that doesn’t mean we want to abuse its superpower. Using a cutting board will help keep any scratches out of your quartz (not to mention how dull your knives would get from cutting on the counter!)

Don’t

Don’t place hot pans directly on your quartz. Use hot pads or trivets to protect your countertops. This also applies to appliances like deep fryers or air fryers. If the bottom of the appliance gets hot - protect your counters! Unfortunately when quartz is exposed to extreme heat, it can crack. Which is the last thing we want for your gorgeous new counters!

Don’t use harsh chemicals or cleaners on your countertops. Things like bleach, drain cleaners, nail polish remover, or oven cleaners will stain your quartz. You’ll end up with bleached spots where the chemical was used. Stick to dish soap or quartz maintenance cleaner instead.

Don’t stress! Quartz is one of the most durable countertop materials for a reason! These tips and tricks are to help you prolong the life of your quartz. So make those messes and those memories! That’s what kitchens are for!
